Santa Susana Mountains4/7/2017 This is an extraordinary place to connect with oneself and nature. My frequent walks through this park bring me back to serenity and clarity. On a recent walk I came upon exceptional volunteers providing school children with a historical and educational guided tour of the park. The volunteers from CA State Parks, and the Chatsworth Historical Society set up education stations, and later used them to share information with the kids. The volunteers gave the students a much needed respite from their electronics and gave them a wonderful morning in nature. Jelena Csanyi (co-president of the Chatsworth Community Coordinating Council and CA State park volunteer,) gave me a little information on how teachers can have their students participate in the program. Teachers will need to book their date one year in advance. Tours are held once a month and there is a waiting list. More dates will be available when there are more volunteers. (Please see the above link for volunteer opportunities and training.) For further information please contact Mrs. Csanyi at beba@socall.rr.com .
